Not cold enough at night fast enough.
August 24, 2026Having problems getting the first floor to cool down at night, it takes a long time. We were told that the protection switch to keep the unit from freezing up, if the air gets below 40 degrees is the problem. It keeps turning off the compressor. The upstairs is kept around 65-68, the downstairs at 69 in day and 64-65 at night, and the basement is set on 70. We were told the unit only works down to 68. Our old house was built in 2019 and had a trane heat pump with a dual thermostat on both levels, and no basement and we had no issues. The Lennox house is only about 300 square feet bigger, but it has the basement also. So far I’m not that impressed with it.
